Buffalo (2010)

Adrian Stimson is a member of the Siksika (Blackfoot) Nation in Southern Alberta and an interdisciplinary artist. He has obtained a BFA with distinction from the Alberta College of Art & Design, an MFA from the University of Saskatchewan, and recently completed the artist in residence program Living Artfully at the Mendel Art Gallery, Saskatoon. His work explores ideas of punishment, identity, and the re-signification of post-colonial history. Adrian has worked as an associate curator at the Mendel Art Gallery, and is currently a sessional instructor at the University of Saskatchewan. In 2003 he was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal and in 2005 the Alberta Centennial Medal for his work in human rights and diversity activism.
